Welcome to cast nets pet of the week I'm Kaelyn Robinson, and I'm going to introduce you to my friend here this is dash he is an eight-year-old Pitbull German Shepherd cross he came to us as a stray with his brother his brothers been adopted now, but he's still looking for his forever home as you can see he's been looking for love for a little over 20 days now actually he's a really, really sweet boy we have no idea why he hasn't had any interest, yet I am a little older, so we're looking for a quieter home older children, and unfortunately he doesn't seem to get along with many other dogs he's going to have to be the only dog in a home we haven't tried him with other cats, so we don't know how he's going to do with them, he does have a little of a higher prey drive so probably no small animals um, but really he's just looking for a quiet home where he can lay on your lap and cuddle short walks because he is a little older, but he still has plenty of love to give so um he's been waiting way too long as far as we're concerned so come down to the shelter and meet this handsome boy also I just want to add that we have kids summer camp coming up in July in August so if you have a kid, or you know many kids that love animals it's a lot of fun you have to register online so click the link below, so we're going to do something a bit different this week last week you heard cam talk about the dangers of leaving dogs and animals and hot vehicle so this week I'm going to get a professional to speak to you guys about it, so then he can explain the health concerns and the risk leaving a dog or an animal on the hot vehicle, so I'm here at rose valley veterinary hospital, and you're gonna thing to Dr I'll talk to you a bit about the dangers so let's go meet up, so I heard that the SPCA received thousands of course throughout the summer about the hot dogs and I just want to let you guys know about the medical perspective of it I know that all of us knows why not to do it, and we understand why not to do it but medically reason, and we get fewer throughout the summer in cases like this and it's so important for me to let everyone know how important it is to try to make sure that the dogs and cats won't leave unattended in the car when it's really hot they don't ventilate as well and what's happen is that they it's exposed them to have a huge risk or there is a huge risk of dehydration and heatstroke and basically stress so what we do see and what I see here in the hospital when they come it's a very severely dehydrated bloody diarrhea vomiting the owner doesn't even know that it's a heat stroke and it lots of money lots of time it's very hard on us, it's very hard on the technician is the nurses emotionally to deal with that it's very hard on the owners to deal with it and it's so so so a simple to prevent they cannot ventilate, so they don't have those sweat glands that we have, so they just ventilated by panting and there is so much extent that they can do it,...
